Senior Adult Ministry
These monthly luncheons have proven to be one of the most meaningful and best loved parts of our ministry to senior adults. The success of this luncheon is due to a lot of planning and hard work by our seniors. The day begins with a potluck luncheon at 11:45 A.M. After lunch, special guests present an interesting and entertaining program. A brief business meeting follows the program, and we are finished by 1:15 P.M.
We don't know another group that has more fun than our senior adult choir. They meet at 9:00 A.M. each Tuesday (except the third Tuesday) for fellowship and singing. They presented a musical for Easter this year and are working on a Christmas musical for this year. They also sang for several worship services including Senior Adult Day. One of the real ministries of this group is singing outside our church for nursing homes and retirement centers.
These special times of fellowship have given many of our senior adults the opportunity to travel that they would never have been able to have on their own. They also introduce new members to our Senior Adult Ministry and church. Perhaps the one thing that makes these trips so appealing is the opportunity to spend time with one another. Our group knows how to have a good time. We also know how to encourage and support one another. I wouldn't miss a chance to spend a few days with these fine folks! Come on and join us!
This annual event was another great success in 2008. Senior adult choirs from across the area gathered at the Audubon Park Baptist Church for an opportunity to share a couple of songs with each other and to enjoy a bar-b-que luncheon. It is a great time of fun and fellowship.
We are so proud of our senior adults who participate in SeniorCare. This year we enlarged our ministry to the homebound as we organized teams to minister to our homebound members. Each team has one assignment each month. It may be a phone call, a letter, or a visit. Each month they make one contact with one homebound member. With the many teams, each homebound member gets three calls, three letters, and three visits each month.
