I would like to welcome all boys to the 2009-2010 Royal Ambassador Program at Ellendale Baptist Church.

Royal Ambassadors is a Southern Baptist mission education organization for boys in grades 1-5. It seeks to build biblical characteristics in boys through mission involvement and virtue commitments. Since its beginning in 1908, Royal Ambassador church-based ministries have helped boys to grow spiritually, physically, mentally, and in relationships with others. The basic purpose of Royal Ambassadors is found in the Royal Ambassador Pledge.

To build the Christian character needed to keep the promises of the RA Pledge, RAs learn biblical virtues such as Loyalty, Friendship, Courage, Responsibility, Honesty, Faith, Compassion, Perseverance, Teamwork, and Self-discipline. They also learn about God's missions, develop and use mission skills, and learn about and support the mission work of their church.

RAs will meet in open assembly on Wednesday nights in the lower fellowship hall at 6:30pm. Boys will then be divided out as Lads and Crusaders. All Lads and Crusaders will participate at different times in virtue exploration, activity discussions, activity projects, crafts and games. RAs will dismiss at 7:30pm.

RA Vest are available for $11.50. RA shirts will be available for $5.50.

We will be giving a RA Racer to each boy who has not been in our RA program before. All other boys may purchase additional cars for $4.00. We will be racing cars several times during the year.

The boys earn points when they bring their Bible to RAs and wear their RA shirt or RA vest. The boys can earn additional points by bringing a friend to RAs on Wednesday nights and participating in RA activities. Each boy will receive bars and stars from the points they earn. Each boy will also receive patches for participating in RA functions.

We will attempt to keep everyone informed about RA events thru email. We are asking for parents to send us their email address. You can send me an email with the subject line "Ellendale RAs" and I will add you to my email list. By using email we will be able to update everyone quickly and save money on postcards and postage. This will also give everyone the ability to ask questions or send comments. My email address is kcole@ilsmart.com.
